Leah’s professional career spans multiple industries, and she brings a wealth of experience from her roles at the University of Alberta, where she worked as a Program Administrator for the School of Business, and as a Knowledge Broker for a Pediatric Research Team in the Faculty of Medicine. These roles have honed her organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, all of which are essential for effective leadership in the education sector. As a knowledge broker, Leah has facilitated connections between researchers and healthcare professionals, ensuring that knowledge is shared to improve outcomes - skills that she is eager to bring to the school board.

In addition to her work at the university, Leah was a small business owner, where she  successfully navigated the complexities of entrepreneurship, contract negotiations, and client relationships. This entrepreneurial experience gives her a unique perspective on fiscal responsibility, innovation, and strategic planning - traits that will help her serve the needs of both students and staff in our Catholic school system.

Leah is also deeply committed to supporting students with diverse needs. Her involvement in Inclusion Alberta allowed her to see firsthand the challenges that many students face in accessing inclusive educational environments. Leah’s passion for inclusion and equity will drive her efforts to ensure that all students - regardless of their background or abilities - have the support they need to succeed.

Her extensive volunteer experience further solidifies her commitment to community service. For over 10 years, Leah has served on community league boards, where she has worked to build stronger relationships between schools, families, and local organizations. Her two years as Chair of the Parent Council at her daughter's elementary school gave her valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities that parents face in supporting their children's education. Leah understands that the role of a Trustee is not just about policy and governance, but also about listening to the voices of parents, students, and educators to create a learning environment that fosters growth, inclusivity, and academic excellence.
